About The Position

This Human Resources Technician II assists the Division HR Manager in the daily administration of Human Resources activities for the Division of Air Quality and the Division of Water Infrastructure. Primary job functions include but are not limited to: Recruitment life cycle – work with hiring supervisors to create effective postings, posting job announcements, screening and referring the most qualified applicants in the State's automated job posting system. Administer New Hire Orientation, all employee benefits, Voluntary Shared Leave, and other personnel programs as deemed necessary. Process personnel actions in the State's Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) and payroll system to include new hires, separations, transfers, promotions; calculate appropriate salary for new hires, promotions, in-range adjustments, etc. Process and monitor LOA actions. Assist with day-to-day information and processing I-9 Forms; preparing new hire orientation packages; maintaining personnel and medical record files; processing retirements through the State Retirement System and ordering retirement certificates and Division Service Awards. Maintain electronic and paper filing system for the HR section. Perform various administrative functions to include time keeping, processing personnel and organizational management reports in the State's HRIS and payroll system; responding to unemployment claims; and coordinating division service awards. Provide policy and procedure assistance to managers, supervisors and employees pertaining to time and attendance record keeping activities.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree, typically in Human Resources or relevant field from an appropriately accredited institution and 1 year of experience required; or 2 years of progressive experience in Human Resources; or equivalent combination or education and experience.
