About The Position

This is a temporary position located at 309 Colombo Street SW, Suite 102, Valdese - Burke County, with the Department of Adult Correction. The position serves a critical role in the Adult Correction certification process. Travel is required as necessary for training, meetings, and investigation process. The Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay is $17.67 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application). Effective July 1, 2025, candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they have the minimum education and experience listed from the class specification. Requirements

  • Associate’s degree, typically in Human Resources from an appropriately accredited institution or relevant field and no years of experience required; or High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and 2 years of progressive experience in Human Resources.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct employment reference checks and verification of certification for candidates having prior experience at any law enforcement, corrections or security agency to determine certification/employment eligibility for ACJJ positions certified by the NC Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission.
  • Conduct background investigations.
  • Manage, track and respond to requests for information from the NC Criminal Justice Standards Division, DPS staff, and other agencies.
  • Serve as backup to the Receptionist and assist with applicant fingerprinting and testing.
  • Maintain databases and assist with scanning and other duties as assigned, ensuring timely and efficient operations.
  • Must be eligible for certification as a DCI operator to conduct criminal background checks.
