About The Position

This is a temporary position located at 309 Colombo St. SW, Suite 102, Valdese - Burke County, with the Department of Adult Correction. The position serves a critical role in the Adult Correction (AC) hiring process. Requirements

  • Associate’s degree, typically in Human Resources from an appropriately accredited institution or relevant field and no years of experience required; or High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and 2 years of progressive experience in Human Resources.
  • Must be eligible for certification as a DCI operator in order to conduct criminal background checks.
  • Requires thorough knowledge and understanding of Criminal Justice and DAC policies/standards.

Responsibilities

  • Receiving applications for certified positions within Adult Corrections assigned to the WFREO service area.
  • Conducts a thorough review of applicant information, screening each applicant to ensure that they meet minimum standards for the position.
  • Records may be requested/reviewed as applicable to ensure that the applicant is eligible for employment as well as certification by the NC Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission.
  • This position advances the applicant through the steps in Workday, enters the applicant record into ATS, and places them on the referral lists for prison facilities.
  • Position will be trained to run fingerprints for NCSBI and Rapback.
  • Requires the ability to run, read, and interpret a thorough DCI criminal background check.
  • Position assigns and proctors pre-employment testing and contacts medical vendors as needed.
  • Consults with managers and subject matter experts on complex issues and responds to a wide variety of questions from applicants and work location managers.
  • Maintains applicant hiring records in the Applicant Tracking System (ATS) and other internal databases.
  • Position is responsible for high volume work and the ability to meet deadlines to ensure critical vacancies are filled in a timely manner.
