About The Position

This is a temporary position and there are no leave or retirement benefits offered with this position. This temporary position is located at 309 Colombo Street SW, Suite 102, Valdese - Burke County, with the Department of Adult Correction.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree, typically in Human Resources from an appropriately accredited institution or relevant field and no years of experience required; or High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and 2 years of progressive experience in Human Resources.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct employment reference checks and verification of certification for candidates having prior experience at any law enforcement, corrections or security agency to determine certification/employment eligibility for ACJJ positions certified by the NC Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission.
  • Conduct background investigations.
  • Manage, track and respond to requests for information from the NC Criminal Justice Standards Division, DPS staff, and other agencies.
  • Serve as backup to the Receptionist and assist with applicant fingerprinting and testing.
  • Maintain databases and assist with scanning and other duties as assigned, ensuring timely and efficient operations.
  • Must be eligible for certification as a DCI operator to conduct criminal background checks.
