About The Position

VARITE is seeking an HR Technical Writer for a 12-month hybrid role in Orlando, FL. This position supports a leading Florida municipal utility in standardizing, creating, and governing core HR documentation. The role involves developing training materials, process documentation, and guides to translate complex policies into clear, actionable resources. The company is an award-winning minority business enterprise providing global consulting and staffing services.

Requirements

  • Deep understanding of structured authoring, information mapping, document lifecycle management, and version control principles.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to structure information logically and translate dense, highly complex legal or technical jargon into plain, user-friendly instructions.
  • Ability to build SharePoint document libraries designing navigation paths, managing document libraries, and setting user access levels.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all settings, actively listen, and encourage open expression of multiple viewpoints.
  • Skilled in conducting structured interviews, extracting technical data from busy experts, and asking targeted clarifying questions.
  • Skilled in template creation and use of industry-standard style guides.
  • Knowledge and usage of graphic software applications and workflow tools (i.e. Lucidchart, Microsoft Visio, Adobe Acrobat, HTML, etc.).
  • Knowledge and usage of content management systems, taxonomy design, folder structuring.
  • Knowledge and usage of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and standard office equipment (telephone, computer, copier, etc.).
  • Knowledge of HR domains, tasks and functions.
  • Knowledge of employment laws, labor standards, and corporate audit requirements to ensure documentation compliance.
  • Maintains strict organization through checklists and schedules to consistently deliver high-quality work that requires minimal checking.
  • Learns quickly, embraces new challenges, and demonstrates intellectual curiosity to provide innovative solutions and make sound, analytical decisions.
  • Anticipates customer needs, delivers solutions aligned with expectations, and maintains a proactive, positive attitude in all circumstances.
  • Manages tasks efficiently using limited resources, leverages internal knowledge, and strictly follows client policies, practices, and safety procedures.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of technical writing, process analysis and editing documentation experience to specifically include: authoring Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), process maps, and workflow documentation.
  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Technical Communication, Human Resources, Business Administration, Journalism or a related field of study.

Responsibilities

  • Support standardization, creation, and governance of core HR documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), process maps, and user-friendly workflow guides.
  • Develop training literature, end-to-end process and procedural documentation, reference guides, job aids/guides, presentations, and visual micro learning aids.
  • Partner closely with HR Subject Matter Experts across domains to translate complex compliance, legal, and operational policies into clear, actionable resources.
  • Conduct structured interviews with HR Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) including HRIS, Employee Relations, and Talent Acquisition to capture accurate technical and process data.
  • Analyze HR workflows to identify operational inefficiencies and propose documentation-based improvements.
  • Author comprehensive HR SOPs, compliance frameworks, training manuals, and structured templates using strict version control.
  • Design actionable job aids, cross-functional flowcharts, and process maps to visually simplify complex operations.
  • Build and manage centralized HR documentation repositories, configuring site navigation, document libraries, and access permissions.
  • Translate complex legal, regulatory compliance, and policy language into clear, user-friendly instructions for employees.
  • Track documentation action items, development timelines, and multi-team deliverables from draft to final approval.
  • Align all published documentation with rigorous corporate compliance, internal audit, and quality control benchmarks.
