The Bureau of Human Resources and Labor Relations is seeking to hire a Talent Acquisition Specialist to join its team to support and enhance the agency's recruitment efforts. The selected candidate will establish recruiting strategies requirements by studying organization plans and objectives; meeting with managers to discuss needs and providing comprehensive recruitment activities for assigned programs within the DOHMH. They will build applicant sources by researching and contacting community-based organizations, academic institutions, employment agencies, media, and internet sites; providing organization information, opportunities, and benefits. The role involves working collaboratively with programs by planning, communicating and leading successful outcomes of virtual hiring fairs using virtual platforms such as Zoom, Teams, etc., including, when necessary, preparing and managing breakout rooms. The candidate will determine the required and desired professional skillset and credentials of applicants by reviewing the minimum qualification requirements of existing vacancies. They will attract applicants by collaborating with the citywide advertisement agency to place job advertisements on professional job boards; collaborate with other members of the recruitment team, use newsgroups and other external sourcing strategies including DCAS' Office of Citywide Recruitment, the Mayors Office of People with Disabilities, and the Mayors Office of Talent Acquisition. The role also includes utilizing social media such as Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn to promote job opportunities, source potential candidates, respond to interested candidates' inquiries about working for DOHMH, etc. and to help promote the DOHMH employer brand. The selected candidate will participate in panel interviews for priority positions; analyze candidate responses and partner with the hiring manager to determine the most qualified applicant to be considered. Establishing employer brand recognition within the diverse NYC community across all five boroughs by actively participating in and hosting career fairs and recruitment events. Participating in DOHMH sponsored community health events in adherence to our mission of protecting and promoting the health of all New Yorkers. The role also involves reviewing civil service title typical tasks and the vacancy responsibilities to ensure they are aligned with each other to minimize out of title grievances. If there are issues with job responsibilities and the civil service typical tasks, facilitate communication between agency recruiters, Classification Unit, and hiring managers to resolve job vacancy issues. The candidate will also create new job openings and manage the HR Job Posting Process by assuming oversight responsibility for the timely review, editing, posting and distribution of assigned job vacancies. They will serve as the primary point of contact for the Vacancy Posting Process by providing first-line customer service to all DHRLs/Hiring Managers/Assistant Commissioners/Deputy Commissioners.
