About The Position

TSMC Arizona is hiring an HR Systems Forward Deployed Engineer to work alongside HR business partners to turn workflow pain points into working system solutions. The engineer will rapidly design and build functional prototypes using generative AI, large language models, and AI agents, validate them directly with HR end users, and partner with IT teams to transition successful ideas into secure, production-ready systems. The role bridges HR needs and modern AI technology and requires reliability, enthusiasm, and an approach aligned with TSMC’s values of Integrity, Commitment, Innovation, and Customer Trust. The role is based on-site at TSMC Arizona’s Phoenix facility. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., with on-call coverage every two months. During an on-call week, the employee is expected to respond to calls 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Management Information Systems, Data Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical or engineering field; or a bachelor’s degree in one of these fields and at least two years of professional experience in software development, systems integration, and AI/ML work.
  • Strong programming skills, preferably in Python, and ability to quickly build working prototypes using tools such as Streamlit, Gradio, FastAPI, or similar.
  • Working knowledge of generative AI concepts and APIs such as OpenAI or Anthropic; deep AI/ML specialization is not required, but comfort building with these tools is expected.
  • High learning agility and ability to quickly grasp complex semiconductor manufacturing concepts, HR workflows, engineering processes, and business logic.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, resourcefulness, and enthusiasm for using creative, cutting-edge technologies to solve practical problems rapidly.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to bridge technical teams and business stakeholders, translate complex needs into technical solutions, and build trust across the organization.

  • Ability and willingness to work on-site at the Phoenix, Arizona facility, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and participate in on-call coverage every two months, responding 24/7 during the assigned week.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods and use a computer and standard office equipment for prolonged periods; occasionally stand, walk, reach, bend, and carry objects up to 10 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior exposure to HR systems, including HRMS, payroll, ATS, time and attendance, or performance management systems.
  • Experience with orchestration frameworks such as LangChain or LlamaIndex, or vector databases such as Pinecone, Milvus, or Chroma.
  • Front-end or full-stack development experience.
  • Awareness of data privacy and personally identifiable information (PII) handling best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with HR business partners to understand HR workflows, domain knowledge, and pain points, including onboarding, payroll, time and attendance, and talent management.
  • Design and rapidly build functional AI prototypes and proofs of concept using generative AI, LLMs, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and AI agents for HR-specific needs.
  • Use low-code/no-code platforms, APIs, and rapid-prototyping frameworks to validate and iterate on solutions with HR end users.
  • Agilely test and evaluate prototypes for feasibility, accuracy, and business value using tight feedback loops.
  • Partner with core IT and MLOps teams to transition validated prototypes into secure, scalable, production-ready systems, with awareness of HR SaaS platforms such as Workday, SAP, and ADP where integration is needed.
  • Maintain clear documentation and user guides for prototypes to support handover and future productization.
