About The Position

The Forward Deployed Engineer will deploy autonomous AI agents into enterprise workflows, working directly with customers to understand their processes, build and integrate agentic systems, and own production reliability end to end. The role covers deployments from discovery and prototyping through production rollout and iteration, with a focus on measurable business outcomes. The engineer will design agent systems incorporating tool use, planning and execution loops, persistent state and memory, and human-in-the-loop controls. They will develop enterprise integrations and implement reliability, evaluation, monitoring, security, and observability mechanisms. The role also includes debugging production failures and collaborating with the founding team on product direction, technical strategy, and deployment playbooks. The company is a stealth-stage startup building enterprise-grade AI agent platforms for automating long-running, knowledge-intensive processes. The position is onsite in Chatsworth, California, with core collaboration hours expected.

Requirements

  • Have shipped at least one agentic system, through work or open-source contributions, that includes tool use, planning, state or memory, and reliability mechanisms.
  • Experience evaluating LLM or agent behavior using task suites, regression tests, acceptance metrics, or quality thresholds.
  • Production engineering experience or mindset, including tracing and logging, incident-style debugging, rollout and rollback strategies, and prompt and tool versioning.
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals, including Python and/or TypeScript, API integrations, and systems thinking.
  • Comfort working directly with customers and owning outcomes end to end.
  • Willingness to work onsite in Chatsworth, California.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with agent frameworks such as LangGraph, LangChain, LlamaIndex, AutoGen, CrewAI, or DSPy in real deployments.
  • Experience with workflow engines for long-running processes, such as Temporal/Cadence or Airflow/Dagster as applicable.
  • Experience building agent observability, including OpenTelemetry-style traces, replay pipelines, prompt/version registries, or cost and latency instrumentation.
  • Experience with enterprise software integration patterns and security or compliance constraints, including PII, access control, and auditability.
  • Familiarity with fine-tuning and adaptation methods such as RAG, routing, lightweight fine-tunes, or tool augmentation.

Responsibilities

  • Own enterprise deployments from discovery and prototyping through production rollout and iteration, targeting measurable ROI.
  • Design and build agentic systems with tool calling, planning and execution loops, state and memory, and human-in-the-loop controls.
  • Implement reliability mechanisms such as retries, timeouts, checkpointing, idempotency, and safe failure modes.
  • Build enterprise integrations, including authentication, permissions, and auditability.
  • Create evaluation and monitoring systems, including offline regression suites, dataset replay, and production quality, cost, and latency dashboards.
  • Debug production failures involving non-determinism, unreliable tools, prompt regressions, partial outages, and stalled agents.
  • Collaborate with the founding team to shape the product roadmap, technical strategy, and deployment playbooks.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation and meaningful equity.
  • Direct access to the founding team and high ownership from day one.
  • Engineering support and compute/tools needed to deploy agentic systems.
