About The Position

The global Human Resource (HR) Function provides an integrated talent management system that delivers a workforce that is Corning's competitive differentiator in the global marketplace. HR provides service offerings that align solutions to business challenges by ensuring the programs are Effective, Efficient, Global, Scaleable, and Repeatable. Corning’s Values are operationalized by the HR Function through the facilitation of Talent Management offerings, as well as programs and processes that aid in making Corning’s Values visible. The HR Specialist provides a wide variety of human resource functions for Finance, Corporate Communications, and Corporate Sustainability at Corning. This role combines HR generalist support with a data analytics focus — delivering compliance-driven HR program administration, employee relations support, and insight-based reporting to help leadership make informed people decisions across client groups.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field — or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • A minimum of 2 years of HR generalist or HR specialist experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting corporate or staff functions
  • Familiarity with Corning HR systems, including Success Factors
  • Experience coordinating early career programs (intern hiring, rotational programs)
  • PHR, SHRM-CP, or equivalent HR certification
  • Track record managing multiple priorities and competing deadlines across distinct client groups

Responsibilities

  • Serve as day-to-day HR point of contact for Finance, Corporate Communications, and Corporate Sustainability — handling employee and manager inquiries on policy, process, benefits, and HR programs
  • Maintain accuracy of HR data in the Human Resource Information System (HRIS); conduct periodic audits and submit change requests to HR Shared Services (HRSS) as needed
  • Manage employee data within the HRIS, ensuring accuracy and compliance during employee lifecycle events including new hires, terminations, job changes, and pay adjustments
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret HR metrics (e.g., turnover trends, absenteeism, engagement data); develop and maintain dashboards and reports to support leadership decision-making
  • Administer leave of absence programs — including FMLA, disability, PFL, and LOA — for assigned client groups
  • Support full-cycle HR generalist activities for assigned groups, including onboarding, offboarding, leave administration, and organizational change communications
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition on recruiting for requisitions within assigned groups, supporting hiring managers through screening, interview coordination, and candidate selection
  • Serve as primary point of contact for HRSS ticket submission and escalation on behalf of assigned client groups
  • Support early career programs for assigned groups, including intern hiring, intern council coordination, and rotational program logistics
  • Identify and recommend opportunities to standardize HR processes and reduce administrative complexity across client groups
  • Provide ad hoc HR project support as assigned
