About The Position

Spellman High Voltage Electronics Corp. is a leading and growing international company that delivers advanced products and solutions into the medical imaging, Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), Food Inspection and Transport Security markets at the global scale. The position supports site leadership through the preparation of reports, tracking of metrics (KPI), creation of meeting materials and execution of special projects as assigned. As such, Spellman High Voltage Electronics Corp. is seeking a talented, motivated, and creative, and EHS&S Specialist.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Occupational Health and Safety, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in a prior EHS role.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, and presentation skills.
  • Basic understanding of EHS regulations and standards.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior internship or part time experience in EHS&S in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of ISO14001, ISO26000, ISO45001 standards.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and local safety regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates the environmental, health, safety, and security regulation compliance for Hauppauge, Valhalla, and Brownsville locations.
  • Coordinate the development and implementation of health and safety policies and procedures to minimize the risk of job-related injuries or accidents.
  • Work with leaders from other functional areas to inspect the workplace to identify health and safety hazards and take actions to correct and prevent them.
  • Educates employees on safe and healthy working conditions and behaviors to help prevent hazards in the workplace through risk analysis.
  • Develops, implements, and oversees training programs for employees in areas such as compliance training, lab/plant inspection, hazardous material handling, emergency response, industrial hygiene, etc.
  • Oversees licensed hazardous waste disposal and monitors waste handling.
  • Investigates incidents and ensures all appropriate reports are prepared in a timely manner and maintained according to internal procedure and government regulations.
  • Support emergency procedures implementation and ensure emergency teams are prepared for potential incidents.
  • Ensures appropriate corrective action is taken where environmental, health, safety, and security hazards exist.
  • Conduct ergonomic evaluations and EHS&S audits.
  • Engage in collaborative solution creation and implementation with other employees.
  • Updates manager monthly with EHS&S KPI’s and relevant metrics.
  • Management of Spellman’s product environmental compliance reporting system.
