About The Position

The HR Specialist | Compliance & Benefits is responsible for the accurate, compliant administration of Stateside's employee benefits programs and for ensuring the company's HR practices meet all federal, state, and local regulatory requirements. This role serves as the day-to-day point of contact for employees on benefits and leave matters, manages payroll tax and reporting compliance, and partners closely with HR leadership to keep the company ahead of compliance risk across a rapidly growing, multi-state workforce.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management or a business-related field
  • 4+ years of experience in benefits administration, HR compliance, or a related HR role.
  • Strong working knowledge of ACA, FMLA, PWFA, ADA, COBRA, EEOC, ERISA, Section 125 plans, I-9/E-Verify compliance, wage garnishment regulations, and multi-state employment and leave laws.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage sensitive, deadline-driven compliance work.
  • Strong knowledge of HR best practices and employment laws/regulations
  • Proficient computer skills including MS Office and Google Workspace

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with payroll/tax systems (e.g., ADP, Smart Compliance) preferred.
  • Experience working with ADP
  • Military experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance to employees on matters related to benefits, company policies, etc.
  • Lead benefits operations end to end, including open enrollment, new hire orientation and enrollment, act as the employees’ main point of contact, and maintain day-to-day vendor relationships for all benefits programs.
  • Own compliance reporting and filings, including ACA data validation and reporting, EEOC reporting, and the multi-state compliance calendar.
  • Administer payroll-related compliance work such as W-2 support, income tax and mail processing, tax rate updates, and garnishment processing.
  • Maintain the company's day-to-day regulatory compliance, including state posters, state doctor panels, unemployment claims, workers’ compensation cases, and paid sick/safe leave requirements across states.
  • Manage safety and employment eligibility compliance, including I-9/E-Verify processing, DOT authorizations, post-accident drug screening, and auto liability claims.
  • Deliver handbook training and maintain content within the Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Stay current on employment law changes and proactively update policies and processes accordingly.
  • Conduct training sessions on various topics, including ethics, benefits, and safety.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality in all departmental and company matters.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Benefits

  • Estimated Base Salary Range: $60,000-$80,000 USD.
  • Individual compensation packages are based on various factors unique to each candidate, including skill set, experience, and qualifications.
  • The salary range refers to base salary only and is not inclusive of the total compensation package.
