About The Position

Lakeside HR Group has been engaged by our client to recruit for an HR Generalist to join their team. Our client is a well-established, mission-driven organization operating in a fast-paced, regulated environment with a strong focus on operational excellence and employee experience. This role is responsible for the day-to-day management of key HR functions including payroll, benefits administration, onboarding, compliance, and employee relations. The HR Generalist plays a hands-on role in supporting employees, ensuring HR processes operate smoothly, and continuously improving systems and practices.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree required
  • 2–4 years of progressive HR experience across multiple functional areas
  • Working knowledge of federal and state employment laws (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO)
  • Experience with HRIS and payroll systems (UKG Ready preferred)
  • Strong communication, organization, and confidentiality skills

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or related field preferred
  • Professional HR certification (SHRM-CP/SCP, PHR/SPHR) strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Manage bi-weekly payroll processing with accuracy and timeliness
  • Distribute payroll documents (pay stubs, W-2s, 1095-Cs, etc.)
  • Support quarter-end and year-end payroll activities
  • Own the full onboarding experience from pre-hire through orientation
  • Coordinate background checks, E-Verify, drug screens, DOT physicals, and related requirements
  • Conduct new hire orientations and ensure completion of onboarding paperwork
  • Coordinate offboarding activities in accordance with established procedures
  • Serve as the primary contact for employee benefits questions and vendor coordination
  • Process new hire benefit enrollments and support open enrollment
  • Perform monthly benefits billing reconciliation
  • Assist employees with HRIS navigation related to benefits
  • Respond to day-to-day HR inquiries related to payroll, benefits, HRIS, and timekeeping
  • Support investigations, disciplinary actions, and employee relations matters
  • Build strong relationships and trust with employees at all levels
  • Facilitate employee engagement initiatives and stay interviews
  • Administer leaves of absence and coordinate with payroll and benefits
  • Respond to unemployment claims
  • Assist with 401(k) compliance, audits, and reporting
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records
  • Complete EEOC and ACA reporting
  • Assist with handbook updates and policy drafting
  • Monitor labor law compliance and required postings
  • Generate HR reports and conduct internal audits
  • Assist with HRIS optimization and end-user training
  • Support training initiatives as needed
