About The Position

The HR Generalist role involves a wide range of responsibilities within the Human Resources department, focusing on recruitment, performance management, customer service, process improvement, and safety. Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or Business, preferred.
  • 2+ years of HR/Administration experience, preferred but not required.
  • Experience and proficiency with various web-based software applications and Applicant Tracking Systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Helps create and place employment advertising, screens prospective associates by checking references, administering pre-employment assessment, and interviewing.
  • Serves as the job posting coordinator for internal and external recruitment, utilizing internet capabilities for candidate searches.
  • Manages performance appraisal and review process for factory associates and ensures timeliness, coaching supervisors on proper forms completion.
  • Maintains confidentiality and ensures HRIS information and files are up to date, accurate, and meet established data integrity criteria.
  • Ensures customer needs are met by integrating them into operations and communicating with diverse groups of customers and internal contacts.
  • Assists with affirmative action initiatives.
  • Recommends changes in office practices or procedures and improves workflow processes in the department.
  • Manages safety in the facility to maintain a safe working environment and to comply with OSHA standards.
  • Organizes the first 5-10 days for new hires, including basic orientation, coordination with buddies and trainers, regular check-ins, technical training steps, and job fit assessment.
  • Organizes engagement events such as Town Halls, Lunch and Learns, and People Matters meetings.
  • Provides customer service for phones and walk-in traffic to applicants, associates, and visitors, answering phones, taking messages, transferring calls, and directing associates with questions.
  • Provides administrative support for the Human Resource Manager.
  • Manages the reception area and serves as a key HR customer service professional for walk-in applicants.
  • Conducts reference checks.
  • Handles paperwork for new hires and sends rejection letters to candidates not selected.
  • Gathers other data such as EEO information as needed.
  • Acts as coordinator for factory hourly annual general wage increase.
  • Generates and distributes reports for Supervisors, Section Managers, HR, and Horizons Manufacturing Associates.
  • Posts open positions on the intranet and various job boards.
  • Reviews and researches any vacation and bonus issues, questions, or discrepancies for factory hourly associates.
  • Completes weekly vacation maintenance cleanup for factory hourly associates.
  • Coordinates retirement celebrations and maintains retiree database.
  • Maintains filing and records.
  • Answers questions from associates and supervisors regarding HR policies and procedures and refers customers to the HR manager as required.
  • Completes and maintains I-9 files in accordance with Federal Law and follows up on expired cards.
  • Oversees the associate referral program.
  • Recruits and trains Safety Ambassadors from the facility floor associates.
  • Leads monthly Safety Team meetings and conducts monthly training on safety topics.
  • Investigates all accidents and documents them in the report/system.
  • Conducts monthly Plant Safety Meetings to address any issues, accidents, near misses, or unsafe conditions and trains associates on safety topics.
  • Maintains OSHA 300 Log per legal requirements.
  • Performs additional duties as may arise.
