About The Position

As an HR Generalist, you'll play a key role in supporting Alaffia's people operations as we scale. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves, keeping systems running smoothly, and being a reliable resource for employees and managers alike. You'll work closely with the People Operations lead and functional teams to execute core HR processes across the employee lifecycle. You will be responsible for supporting and maintaining our people systems — performance management cycles, payroll and benefits administration, compliance tracking, and HR reporting. You'll also serve as a go-to resource for employee questions, helping navigate day-to-day matters with good judgment and a people-first approach.

Requirements

  • 3–4+ years of HR experience in a generalist or operations-focused role, ideally at a fast-growing startup or tech company
  • Working knowledge of federal and state employment law and HR compliance fundamentals
  • Hands-on experience with HRIS platforms (Rippling experience a strong plus) and strong proficiency in Google Workspace or Microsoft Office
  • Experience supporting payroll and benefits administration
  • Strong attention to detail, follow-through, and organizational skills
  • Good judgment and discretion when handling sensitive employee matters
  • A collaborative, service-oriented mindset — you're comfortable with a wide range of tasks and take pride in keeping things running well
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment where priorities shift and structure is still being built

Responsibilities

  • Support and maintain HR processes across payroll, benefits, compliance, and people data. Keep systems accurate and up-to-date as we grow.
  • Coordinate and execute onboarding, offboarding, performance review cycles, and engagement programs, ensuring a consistent and positive employee experience.
  • Administer performance frameworks and feedback processes, support documentation practices, and help managers navigate performance conversations.
  • Process payroll, support open enrollment, troubleshoot employee benefits questions, and coordinate with external vendors and brokers.
  • Handle routine employee relations matters and escalate complex situations appropriately. Serve as a trusted, accessible resource for employee questions.
  • Help ensure the company stays current with federal and state employment law requirements, maintaining accurate records and supporting audits as needed.
  • Maintain people data and generate reports on key HR metrics to support leadership decision-making.
