About The Position

The Human Resources Generalist (HRG) provides comprehensive human resources services to the Caribbean Division & Texas Business Unit (BU) of the Great Plains Division (GPD). This role advances People Team initiatives by supporting the Human Resources Director (HRD), Senior HR Manager (HRM) and the Caribbean Division & Texas Business Unit to deliver high-quality HR services. Both the Caribbean Division and the Texas Business Unit are critical to the success of The Nature Conservancy’s mission and operate at varying stages of growth and complexity. Reporting to the Senior HR Manager, the HRG supports staff located across Texas, the broader United States, and the Caribbean (including the Dominican Republic, Grenada, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and the Bahamas) by overseeing HR administration, recruitment, onboarding, performance processes, reporting, and compliance with applicable internal policies and employment laws. The HRG partners with divisional recruiters, members of the North America People Team, and key partners within Texas and the Caribbean to deliver excellent HR services and ensure consistent communication, compliance, and employee experience. This role administers and maintains HR systems, processes, and plans in alignment with organizational policies and applicable national and international employment laws, while providing guidance and support to employees and managers at all levels. This position may require occasional domestic and international travel (approximately 5-10%) and flexibility to work hours to support multiple time zones.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or 3 years of HR-related work experience or equivalent combination.
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: database management and spreadsheet software; constructing and producing reports; data input, manipulation and analysis.
  • Experience responding to HR-related questions and problems from employees and managers.
  • Experience working with MS Office software, including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and HR database.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with People Team stakeholders to improve service delivery, influence change, streamline HR processes, and support regional, divisional, and organization-wide HR initiatives.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for HR inquiries and oversee divisional HR administrative practices, ensuring consistency and implementation of best practices.
  • Ensure clear and effective communication of People Team policies, procedures, programs, and applicable employment laws and compliance requirements to HR leadership, managers, and staff.
  • Support employee data changes and submit HR transactions and documentation in collaboration with managers and staff.
  • Partner with hiring managers and divisional recruiters to shape job descriptions, advise on grade levels and compensation targets, and support interview processes, while leading full-cycle recruiting for seasonal and temporary positions.
  • Support a consistent and welcoming onboarding experience across the Great Plains and Caribbean divisions in conjunction with HR and divisional leadership.
  • Support the Performance Partnership Process and assist Sr. HRM in managing the end-to-end process.
  • Coordinate training logistics, communications, and follow-up activities with Learning and Organizational Development team.
  • Serve as Workday subject matter expert providing support to HR leadership, including but not limited to preparing HR reports, dashboards, and analysis.
  • Act as Time and Absence Partner and ensure coverage across Texas BU and the Caribbean division.
  • Support post-recruitment documentation and manage personnel records, in coordination with local Operations staff, following local employment practices and requirements for the Caribbean Division.
