About The Position

The Human Resources Generalist is primarily responsible for providing HR services to managers and employees within assigned business units in both the Edmonton and Calgary offices. The HR Generalist develops trusted relationships with clients and provides transactional and advisory HR support, that assists managers and employees, in all areas of HR including but not limited to recruitment, onboarding, departures and leaves of absence. This generalist role will support the development and execution of HR programs and initiatives related to driving employee engagement and will work closely in collaboration with our other HR Generalist to ensure employee engagement efforts are inclusive and reflect the diverse needs of our workforce.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary degree (BA, HR), diploma, or post graduate certificate in human resources management
  • 3 - 5 years of progressive experience in the field of human resources
  • Well-versed in Alberta provincial employment/Human Rights laws
  • Advanced level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Intermediate level of proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams
  • Collaborative in working with colleagues
  • Diplomatic and professional in working and building relationships with internal and external parties
  • Skilled in applying strong analytical and critical thinking when problem solving
  • Meticulous attention to detail

Responsibilities

  • Consult hiring managers on recruitment processes and conduct recruitment intake to determine position requirements and selection criteria.
  • Manage candidate skills assessments and debrief results with hiring managers.
  • Complete salary recommendations ensuring internal equity and communicate offers of employment.
  • Deliver new employee and manager orientation sessions.
  • Coordinate employee departures, promotions/transfers, and leaves of absence.
  • Manage the short- and long-term disability processes, working with a third-party absence management provider when necessary.
  • Work with managers to resolve employee performance issues, providing guidance regarding the discipline process if applicable.
  • Conduct follow-up and resolution on employee concerns brought forward.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal and provincial legislation, regulations, and standards.
  • Communicate to internal stakeholders regarding Human Resources policies procedures, laws, standards, and regulations.
  • Maintain accurate, up to date and complete personnel records.
  • Compile HR reports and data including employee and workforce performance, attendance, and development to provide quantitative assessment and visualization for use in data-based decision making.
  • Develop, distribute, and interpret various employee surveys to evaluate HR and organizational programs.
  • Identify opportunities and methods to enhance the organizational and managerial drivers of engagement.
  • Assist the Manager, HR Operations in the implementation of various HR and/or CPA Alberta-related projects.
