About The Position

Stellar is seeking an empathetic and resilient HR Generalist to join their Human Resources department. This role is initially a one-year contract with the possibility of extension, offering a chance to make a significant impact in full-cycle HR and recruitment. The HR Generalist will partner with crew and leadership, drive the recruitment cycle, and manage daily HR responsibilities, including navigating difficult conversations, performance management, and respectful offboarding. A portion of the role will involve providing light, hands-on support for the physical studio during the two days per week spent in the Vancouver office.

Requirements

  • BA in HR Management, Business Administration, or a related Diploma or Certificate.
  • 3+ years of hands-on HR generalist experience (recruitment plus day-to-day HR, not solely one or the other), including full-cycle recruiting experience.
  • Working knowledge of Canadian employment standards and HR compliance, with the ability to apply and maintain policies and keep accurate records.
  • Strong organization, sound judgment, and discretion with confidential information.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to balance multiple tasks.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Demonstrated integrity, professionalism, and strict confidentiality.
  • Highly proficient with Google Suite.
  • Ability to work from the Vancouver office 2 days per week.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience with an HRIS (like Payworks) and an ATS (like JazzHR), as well as LinkedIn recruiting.
  • Experience in digital marketing or social media management.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a trusted partner to supervisors when navigating complex employee relations, guiding managers through difficult conversations, performance improvement plans, and terminations with empathy, compliance, and grace.
  • Own and track review cycles (Performance and Probation), ensuring managers are equipped to give constructive feedback and that artists feel heard and supported in their growth.
  • Serve as the approachable first point of contact for employee questions regarding policies, leaves, and HR procedures.
  • Maintain HR policies, handbook, contracts, and records in the HRIS (Payworks), ensuring consistent application, audit readiness, and escalating to the HR Manager when needed.
  • Manage the full recruitment cycle, including sourcing, screening, coordinating, and interviewing across various roles using the ATS (JazzHR), building repeatable pipelines and a positive candidate experience.
  • Oversee smooth and consistent onboarding processes, coordinating seamlessly with IT, Payroll, and Production Teams.
  • Provide light facility support during studio days, acting as the point person for basic physical office needs and coordinating with building management for utility, AC, or electrical requests.
  • Maintain the access card and alarm code system and assign credentials to new employees.
  • Monitor facilities documentation, proactively order office supplies, and partner with Production Teams to plan company events.
  • Ensure the physical space complies with the Occupational Health and Safety Act of British Columbia.
