About The Position

This role coordinates the company’s workers compensation program, files claims, and communicates updates. It provides guidance on FMLA & LOA, tracks leaves of absence, and collaborates with the Benefits group on premium payments. The position handles confidential employee information, assists with benefits open enrollment, and supports employee relations by responding to inquiries, investigating issues, and conducting exit and employee interviews. It also identifies trends to increase retention, supports recruitment efforts across various locations, and updates job descriptions. The role involves administrative duties in all HR areas, assembling and distributing information, administering employee surveys, and assisting with other HR duties, special projects, and employee events. Compliance with safety and GMP requirements is essential, along with supporting a culture of safe production and operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of personnel policy and procedure and federal and state laws regarding employment practices is required.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees and the public.
  • Excellent problem solving and judgment skills required.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Intermediate to advanced skill level in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation.
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to effectively multi-task is essential.
  • Strong communication (oral and written) skills required.
  • Must present a professional, positive image always.
  • Ability to work off hours as business needs require.
  • Regularly required to remain at stationary work location and occasionally to move from place to place within work facility.
  • Regularly required to use the telephone and computer.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

Nice To Haves

  • PHR or SPHR certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the company’s workers compensation program, including filing claims and following up on administrative requirements.
  • Communicates regular updates on workers compensation status to employees, supervisors, and leadership.
  • Provides guidance to employees and Supervisors regarding FMLA & LOA.
  • Tracks all FMLA, disability, work-related and other leaves of absences.
  • Sends required notices and completes and sends disability claims to provider.
  • Collaborates with Benefits group to ensure required insurance premiums are paid when employees are on leave.
  • Handles details of a highly confidential nature such as employee injury reports and other special reports.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all employee records and follows policy regarding release of information.
  • Assists with annual benefits open enrollment period.
  • Assists with employee relations, responding to inquiries, investigating problems, and providing guidance.
  • Provides timely reports on employee relation issues and outcomes.
  • Conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separations and conducts employee interviews with current employees.
  • Identifies trends and strategies to increase employee retention.
  • Supports recruitment efforts as needed and assists various NOW locations with recruitment needs.
  • Discusses staffing gaps and needs with supervisors and managers.
  • Collaborates with Recruiting Team to staff accordingly.
  • Updates and distributes job descriptions as necessary.
  • Looks for process improvements.
  • Performs a variety of administrative duties in all areas of Human Resources.
  • Assembles and distributes information (i.e. training, benefits, company policies, company events) to employees.
  • Administers employee surveys throughout the year.
  • Assists with other Human Resource duties, special projects, and employee events such as wellness screenings, and special employee activities.
  • Complies with safety and GMP requirements.
  • Supports a culture of safe production and operations; follows all safety rules and procedures.
  • Actively participates in the safety program by engaging in training activities, reporting safety concerns, submitting safety suggestions, and correcting or reporting workplace health or safety hazards.
  • Assists with communicating safety information to new employees.
  • Fulfills responsibilities as outlined in the company safety management plan.
