About The Position

Achievement Centers for Children (ACC) is a Cleveland-area nonprofit organization that empowers children and adults with disabilities and their families to achieve and thrive. Through therapy, education, recreation, and family support services, we help individuals reach their full potential while strengthening communities across Northeast Ohio. The HR Generalist, Employee Relations & Compliance serves as a key resource for employees and managers by providing guidance on Human Resources policies, responding to employee concerns, supporting compliance efforts, and helping foster a positive workplace culture. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys problem-solving, building relationships, and supporting employees while ensuring organizational compliance.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in Human Resources, employee relations, compliance, workers' compensation, unemployment administration, or related workforce support functions.
  • Experience handling confidential employee information with a high degree of discretion.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience supporting employee relations matters, workplace investigations, or corrective action processes.
  • Experience in nonprofit, healthcare, education, or human services environments.
  • Experience with Paylocity or similar Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS).
  • Familiarity with Ohio regulatory requirements including DODD, ODJFS, and ODE.

Responsibilities

  • Support employee relations matters through documentation, meeting coordination, follow-up, and case tracking.
  • Assist with performance management processes and corrective action documentation.
  • Support workplace investigations and maintain confidential employee relations records.
  • Identify and escalate employee relations concerns and workplace trends as appropriate.
  • Assist with Human Resources compliance audits and monitoring activities.
  • Maintain employment records and compliance documentation.
  • Support policy administration and workforce compliance reporting.
  • Assist with audit preparation and regulatory recordkeeping requirements.
  • Coordinate workers' compensation claims administration and injury reporting.
  • Monitor claim status, return-to-work activities, and required documentation.
  • Manage unemployment claims, hearing documentation, deadlines, and hearing preparation.
  • Maintain accurate records and reporting related to claims activity.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for employee and manager questions regarding Human Resources policies, procedures, workplace concerns, and leave programs.
  • Manage Human Resources inbox inquiries and ensure timely follow-up.
  • Provide professional, responsive, and employee-focused support.
  • Connect employees with appropriate resources and escalate issues when necessary.
  • Identify opportunities to improve Human Resources processes and service delivery.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures and job aids.
  • Recommend process improvements that enhance compliance, efficiency, and employee experience.
  • Support departmental initiatives and special projects.
