About The Position

The Director will actively lead and support the Tennessee Plant complex in achieving its business objectives as a true business partner. To provide first person involvement in developing and delivering business and leadership strategies to not only address immediate opportunities, but to develop the people-related blueprint for longer-term success.

Requirements

  • (Required) bachelor's degree
  • (Required) HR generalist experience (5-8 years); HR leadership roles (3-5 years) and HR managerial/director role(s) (5+ years) in a manufacturing intensive environment
  • (Required) good command of written and spoken English
  • Administration and Management - Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources
  • Personnel and Human Resources - Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, labor relations and negotiation, and personnel information systems
  • Law and Government - Knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, executive orders, agency rules, and the democratic political process
  • Psychology - Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders
  • Critical Thinking - Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
  • Reading Comprehension - Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents
  • Active Listening - Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times
  • Monitoring - Monitoring/Assessing performance of yourself, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action
  • Must be able to frequently move about the manufacturing plant campus, general office environments, production areas, and occasionally ascend/descend stairs
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
  • Must be able to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery
  • Must be able to position self to file documents including the top and bottom drawers of file cabinets
  • Must be able to occasionally move office equipment and supplies weighing up to 25 pounds

Nice To Haves

  • (Preferred) human resource management, organizational psychology, or labor relations
  • (Highly Preferred) master's degree
  • (Preferred) prior experience in a manufacturing leadership role(s)

Responsibilities

  • Actively lead and fully support 2030STS and TP objectives
  • Function as a business partner to the President, Executives and Managing Directors by ensuring compliance with laws and regulations as HR-related initiatives are developed, discussed, and rolled-out
  • Develop and execute HR strategies that align with TP goals and improve all areas of HR
  • Ensure an HR presence on the manufacturing floor through key meeting participation, regular interaction with managers and timely communication through various forums
  • Continually lead the development of Human Resources team members
  • Work closely with N.A. Legal Team and support regional compliance and ethics programs
  • Develop materials for and lead regular and timely Town Hall meetings and other formal information sharing forums to ensure the TP workforce is up to date on essential information
  • Develop and present a weekly HR report to the Present and Executive
  • Collaborate with N.A. HR Team for benefits, compensation, performance management, talent management, other regional and global projects
  • Develop and maintain policies, procedures and programs to achieve the “employer of choice” recognition in the community
  • Lead the continuing development of a culture of accountability throughout the organization as well as continuing and developing recognition and morale building activities and events
  • Full participation in the planning and execution steps for the planned expansion at TP through introducing advanced manufacturing staffing structures and utilization alternatives
  • Develop optimal working relationship with Global HR partners, share information readily and ensure best practices are shared
  • Lead a Corporate Social Responsibility Committee and develop a yearly budget for all donations
  • Actively participate as a N.A. 401k Committee member as well as N.A. Benefit Committee member
  • Lead the development and maintenance of positive relationships with government officials, organizations, community leaders and key businesses through the region to maintain Hankook’s good standing
  • Act as a RRT campaign and HR leader, and develop labor relations strategies
  • Through all listed duties and responsibilities, optimize positive employee relations through listening, communicating, and solving employee concerns at their source
  • Additional duties and responsibilities that will evolve with changing business conditions and priorities
