About The Position

The primary responsibility of the HR Compliance Lead is to ensure HR practices at Driven Brands comply with all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws. This role leads audits, identifies compliance risks, and partners with HR, Payroll, Legal, and Operations to mitigate exposure and promote compliant labor practices across the organization.

  • Bachelor’s degree (Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics or Human Resources preferred)
  • 5+ years of Human Resources Business Partner experience in multi-unit retail environment and or Shared Services Center of Excellence required
  • Experience influencing senior leaders around HR matters
  • HRIS system experience and knowledge required, Workday and Service Now required
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Able to exercise effective judgment, sensitivity, & creativity to changing needs and situations
  • Team player with ability to work in a demanding and dynamic fast-paced environment with the flexibility to adjust to changing priorities and deadlines
  • Proven strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Able to establish and maintain healthy working relationships in the course of business
  • Strong communication skills and ability to interact successfully in a team environment

Responsibilities

  • Monitor changes in employment laws and regulations (e.g., FLSA, state wage orders, local labor ordinances) and update the HRBP on upcoming changes.
  • Conduct compliance risk assessments across HR programs and operations.
  • Lead responses to wage-and-hour audits, agency inquiries, and litigation support in partnership with Legal.
  • Lead and conduct regular audits of timekeeping practices, including clock-in/clock-out accuracy, edits, rounding practices, and off-the-clock work.
  • Audit and monitor meal and rest break compliance, including timing, duration, premiums, waivers, and exceptions as required by state and local laws.
  • Partner with Payroll to ensure proper payment of wages, overtime, premiums, missed break pay, and final pay requirements.
  • Identify trends, root causes, and high-risk areas related to timekeeping and scheduling practices.
  • Recommend and implement corrective actions, including process changes, system enhancements, and manager coaching.
  • Ensure consistent application of policies across locations and business units.
  • Educate HRBP on common compliance risks and best practices to prevent violations.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on wage-and-hour and HR compliance matters.
  • Collaborate closely with Payroll, Legal, Operations, HRIS, and HR Business Partners to ensure compliance.
  • Provide compliance guidance during organizational changes, new site openings, or acquisitions.
