About The Position

The HR Clerk position involves a variety of specialized administrative tasks supporting the human resources department. This role is crucial for managing employee recruitment, benefits administration, hiring processes, and training initiatives. The HR Clerk will assist with onboarding new employees, maintain accurate employee records, and serve as a point of contact for employees and management regarding HR policies and procedures. This is a temp-to-hire position.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge in the use and application HRIS or similar software.
  • Extensive knowledge of office management systems and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of the principles and practices of human resources.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Skilled in coordinating and implementing all aspects of event planning.
  • Ability to operate general office equipment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
  • Ability to comprehend and apply FRSA policies and procedures.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Ability to operate smartphones to use relevant applications, including monitoring e-mail, and responding to text messaging and phone calls.
  • Ability to accurately record time and attendance through an electronic timekeeping system.
  • Must demonstrate excellent internal and external customer service skills.
  • Ability to understand and enforce all safety practices and procedures as required by the work assignment.
  • Ability to maintain reasonable and customary attendance.
  • An Associate's Degree in Business or Human Resources, five years’ experience as an administrative assistant—prior experience in a human resources department is preferred—or any equivalent of training and experience.
  • Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Illinois driver's license with a driving record suitable to Four Rivers.

Responsibilities

  • Provides a full range of administrative support to the human resources department.
  • Creates, maintains, and files employee records with accuracy.
  • Supports the recruitment and hiring process by assisting in the screening, testing, and scheduling of interviews.
  • Provides orientation for new employees by providing information packets, reviewing company policies, gathering withholding and other payroll information, explaining benefit programs, and obtaining signatures for documents.
  • Provides administrative support for Leave requests.
  • Processes various employment and insurance verification forms received from outside agencies.
  • Processes HR purchasing requests and invoices as required by policy.
  • Answers, screens, and forwards telephone calls and emails, records, and relays messages and appointments, and greets and screens walk-in customers.
  • Serves as a point of contact, providing smooth communication with employees and timely resolution to their queries.
  • May participate in external activities, including conferences, recruitment events, and community outreach initiatives.
  • Coordinates schedules and tasks for HR activities, including meetings and events, training, wellness and employee recognition initiatives, and open enrollment.
  • Assists with event coordination for employee engagement activities, including researching, planning, contacting and scheduling with vendors, and coordinating with staff and external parties.
  • Accomplishes human resources department and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
  • Adheres to all safety procedures, practices, and requirements.
  • Provides superior internal and external customer service.
  • Represents Four Rivers Sanitation Authority and its policies in a positive manner internally and externally.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Management.
