About The Position

The Buckley School, Los Angeles' oldest K-12 all-gender learning institution has an opening for an intellectually curious, self-directed, and highly dependable HR & Campus Assistant. This dual-function role is designed for a fast-learning individual who thrives in a dynamic environment. You will divide your day between performing administrative tasks in our HR department and maintaining an orderly, safe, and welcoming environment for our students across campus. The ideal candidate combines critical thinking and technical fluency with warm interpersonal boundaries, impeccable confidentiality, and absolute punctuality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • At least 2–3 years of administrative experience, ideally with exposure to Human Resources.
  • Strong hands-on proficiency with Google Workspace/Microsoft Office (especially Excel/Sheets) and comfort learning enterprise HRIS software (Paycom) and other HR platforms
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in an educational setting
  • Ability to stand and walk around campus for extended periods during supervision duties

  • Experience working with K-12 students is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Draft job postings, obtain approval from Head of School (HOS), and post open positions on relevant job boards.
  • Send welcoming onboarding emails to ensure new hires feel supported from day one.
  • Collect completed new hire paperwork, and order background checks.
  • Coordinate Day 1 logistics by notifying IT, Security, and facilities regarding start dates, arrival times, and parking arrangements.
  • Add new hire information into tracking spreadsheets and systems accurately.
  • Convert existing paper employee files into secure digital formats.
  • Create, maintain, and audit digital employee files and conduct ongoing document filing.
  • Serve as a point of contact for routine Paycom user issues (e.g., password resets, basic troubleshooting).
  • Update organizational charts regularly and run routine or custom HR reports as needed.
  • Send periodic timecard approval reminders to both employees and managers.
  • Proactively contact managers regarding late timecard approvals to ensure timely payroll processing.
  • Monitor and track completion of mandatory training, policy acknowledgements, and employee evaluations; issue timely reminders for overdue items.
  • Assist with distributing and collecting signed job descriptions.
  • Prepare new hire and termination folders
  • Serve as a reliable contact for answering standard employee HR inquiries.
  • Take accurate notes during confidential disciplinary meetings and internal investigations.
  • Draft and send approved company-wide HR communications and notices.
  • Provide supervision around campus to ensure compliance with school protocols for the safety and wellbeing of all students
  • Help monitor occupancy in the library during early morning hours
  • Assist with carpool during arrival and dismissal
  • Supervise study hall, lunch and recess
  • Help cover classes if needed
  • Other duties as assigned.
