Our hybrid model combines a mix of in-person at an AlixPartners office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with remote working options for Monday and Friday. In this contract role on AlixPartners’ Corporate Services team, you will assist our People Business Partner team on a wide range of tasks related to day-to-day functions and operations, as well as project work to support the team’s strategic agenda. The HR Business Services Specialist (known internally as People Business Services Professional) is a full-time, contract role located in New York, NY, and reports to a Business Partner Manager. Paid relocation and benefits are not eligible for this contract position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Organizational Psychology, or a related field required.
  • Minimum two to three (2–3) years of professional experience in Human Resources, talent management, or a related field; OR a current master’s degree student with zero to one (0–1) years of relevant experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and internet applications.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills, including the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of customers at all levels.
  • Ability to be discreet and handle confidential, sensitive information.
  • Ability to deliver accurate, timely work with professionalism, accountability, and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated skill in managing individual priorities and adapting to changing needs with minimum guidance.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English with the ability to deliver clear messages and collaborate effectively within and across teams.
  • Core working hours are generally 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM; willingness to work outside of normal U.S. business hours as projects/needs arise.
  • Ability to work full time in an office and remote environment; physically able to sit/stand at a computer and work in front of a computer screen for significant portions of the workday.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in a related field is a plus.
  • Professional services firm experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with HCM (Human Capital Management) software is a plus.
  • Comfort with or curiosity about AI-enabled productivity tools (e.g., AI summarization, copilot, data analysis assistants) strongly preferred.
  • Desire to learn new skills and commitment to continuous improvement with a high degree of initiative.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with performance management processes, including, but not limited to, drafting communications, coordinating review sessions, organizing materials, and managing data.
  • Act as a first point of contact for employee inquiries regarding human resources matters. Respond to staff inquiries or redirect to appropriate team.
  • Handle regular and ad hoc reporting requests and audits, including synthesizing data in a digestible format.
  • Follow up with employees to ensure compliance with people processes.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to manage employee transactions, including transfers and leaves of absence. Maintain employee information within internal databases and systems.
  • Support onboarding and offboarding administration.
  • Coordinate training initiatives with internal teams
  • Assist in designing and implementing people-related ad hoc programs, such as networking and social events, panel discussions, and others, to facilitate employee engagement, inclusion, and development.
  • Contribute to firmwide initiatives and process improvements within the people space. Ensure that best practices are proactively documented
  • Project manage planned and ad-hoc activities for the People Business Partner team as needed
