About The Position

Weyerhaeuser is seeking a talented Human Resources Business Partner to join their Western Lumber HR Team. This role will support a non-unionized manufacturing site in Grande Prairie, AB. The successful candidate will build relationships with site leaders, coach through HR-related issues, and understand business operations from both strategic and tactical perspectives. A strong labor relations background, ability to diagnose organizational issues, develop solutions, and implement HR action plans in partnership with the site manager are essential. This role will also take on special projects as needed and is responsible for the overall leadership and management of the Human Resources functions for the Grande Prairie mill, serving as a member of the site leadership team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Human Resources or a related field.
  • Typically 3-5 years of Human Resources Business Partner or equivalent HR functional experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to travel 25% of the time to other locations, including some overnight travel and flow to work as needed.
  • Demonstrated safety leadership.
  • Strong coaching and influencing skills.
  • Experience in leading change management initiatives.
  • Ability to effectively navigate through ambiguous situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, assess HR implications and manage details.
  • Experience in multiple HR disciplines including compensation practices, employee relations, talent management, diversity, performance management, and federal and state laws.
  • Must have strong computer skills and proficient with HRIS systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and facilitation skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous manufacturing/industrial experience, highly desired.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing and union environment preferred.

  • Provide top-quality coaching, consultations, and solutions in all areas of HR, including employee relations, talent management, and leadership training.
  • Support leadership team with people development by identifying skill gaps and developing solutions.
  • Work with Unit Manager to support Individual Development Plans and Performance Management Plans for the team to ensure quality goals and targets.
  • Lead workplace investigations, work with legal department, and prepare comprehensive reports of findings.
  • Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, increase productivity and retention.
  • Collaborate with the HR team and site leadership to champion and accelerate a culture of excellence in which people feel engaged and inspired to deliver top business results.
  • Partner with leaders to develop and implement diversity and inclusion strategies.
  • Responsible for salaried and hourly staffing functions.
  • Promote and encourage innovative thoughts and ideas.
  • Analyze trends and metrics to develop solutions and programs.
  • Ensure site compliance with state and federal laws.
