About The Position

This role is responsible for various aspects of compensation and classification, including reviewing and creating job descriptions, recommending salary placements, maintaining job classifications in the Applicant Tracking System, and validating vacant positions. The specialist will also handle job reclassification requests, prepare reports, and communicate findings to managers. Additionally, the role involves participating in compensation surveys, coordinating annual compensation letters, preparing documentation for reclassification requests, and collaborating with HR partners on HRIS reports and data analysis. The position also manages the agency service award program, updates organizational charts and the intranet, and ensures compliance with compensation and classification programs. A key aspect of this role is maintaining the confidentiality of sensitive employee information.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance or equivalent.
  • 4 years of experience in HR, HRIS, Finance or any other analytical experience in a similar sized company, or equivalent combination.
  • Experience using HRIS database software required.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Access to highly personal and sensitive information, potentially including medical records, social security information, employee relations issues, etc. for all agency employees, including former employees.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews new positions for appropriate classification.
  • Modifies and creates job descriptions to accurately reflect current roles, responsibilities, and requirements.
  • Reviews and recommends salary placements for new hires.
  • Maintains current job descriptions/classifications on the Applicant Tracking system and audits positions against position control.
  • Validates vacant positions to position control in coordination with recruitment and budget.
  • Reviews manager's requests for job reclassification and makes classification/pay grade recommendations.
  • Evaluates jobs and makes recommendations on appropriate FLSA code and pay grade level with consideration for internal equity.
  • Handles administrative steps to formalize recommendations for approval.
  • Prepares written reports on findings and communicates results to managers.
  • Champions compensation survey participation and analysis with vendors and other groups to gather current market data.
  • Coordinates and prepares the annual compensation letter for each employee.
  • Prepares documentation for annual internal reclassification requests and potential appeals.
  • Collaborates with Talent Acquisition and other HR partners to prepare HRIS reports and analytical data.
  • Enters new hires into the HRIS.
  • Participates in developing new processes regarding the new hire experience.
  • Manages the Agency service award program and award time.
  • Partners with HR staff to prepare quarterly updates to organizational charts and the intranet site (SharePoint).
  • Ensures compliance of compensation and classification programs and practices.
  • Compiles regular reports for on-going program management.
