About The Position

This role is part of a supportive team that sustains Mokami’s Supportive Living Program (SLP), offering care, connection, and consistency within a trauma-informed, harm reduction framework. Housing Support Workers (HSWs) contribute to a circle of care that centres empathy, dignity, belonging, and safety for women and gender-diverse people who call Mokami home. HSWs help foster a welcoming, inclusive environment where residents feel respected and supported. They meet residents where they are at, offering support that is responsive to individual needs, strengths, and readiness. HSWs walk alongside residents in identifying and working toward goals that are meaningful to them, supporting autonomy and choice. Working as part of a collaborative team, HSWs contribute to ongoing, wrap-around support for residents, ensuring continuity of care across shifts. They offer and support access to programming that builds connection, life skills, and well-being. HSWs use compassionate communication, de-escalation, and mediation to both prevent and respond to crises, always grounding their work in respect, understanding, and relationship.
