The Housing Support Intern will support the program by participating in educational experiences related to client services, residential operations, program logistics, and administrative support. Under supervision, the intern will observe housing program operations, assist with daily routines, engage directly with residents, and help with program tasks aligned with their academic goals. The goal is to gain hands-on experience in a supportive housing environment while developing professional skills in both operational and client-facing settings.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a college or university academic program in a field related to the internship position, and seeking academic credit for the internship.
  • Possession of a valid Class One Fingerprint Clearance Card (must be obtained prior to internship start).
  • Able to pass a DES or DCS Central Registry background check (must be completed prior to internship start).
  • Time commitment of 10–20 hours per week, depending on program and academic requirements.
  • Ability to maintain reliable attendance and follow supervisor instructions
  • Must demonstrate strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Adhere to all organizational policies, including the Code of Conduct, professional standards, and applicable regulations.
  • Comply with mandated reporting requirements under Arizona statute A.R.S. § 13-3620 by reporting any suspected abuse or neglect of a minor to the appropriate authorities.

Responsibilities

  • Observe and learn housing program operations, including intake, service coordination, and team communication
  • Build rapport with residents, redirect behaviors respectfully, and engage individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • Assist with and lead life skills classes in a trauma-informed manner
  • Support after-school programming such as mentoring youth and facilitating structured activities
  • Shadow personal development coaches during one-on-ones and contribute to goal-oriented sessions
  • Support staff with non-direct service tasks such as organizing supplies, preparing welcome kits, and restocking units
  • Greet and direct visitors, answer phones under supervision, and refer inquiries to appropriate staff
  • Assist in program events, supporting preparation, logistics, and cleanup
  • Participate in team meetings and reflective supervision, applying insights to academic or professional goals
  • Complete required trainings, including confidentiality, safety, and trauma-informed approaches
  • Maintain professionalism and confidentiality in all aspects of the role
