About The Position

Hiawatha Valley Mental Health Center (HVMHC) is seeking a Housing Support Assistant to provide supervision and security within housing services. This role is crucial in supporting the safety and stability of adults living with serious and persistent mental illnesses. The assistant will monitor public areas, provide emergency support, and assist with crisis intervention as needed. Requirements

  • Must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Must possess ability to handle confidential information responsibly.
  • Ability to work with serious and persistent mentally ill individuals.
  • Have the ability and flexibility to work additional hours as need dictates.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Have skills and knowledge acquired through at least one of the following: a course of study in a health or human services related field leading to a Bachelor of Arts, bachelor of science, or associate’s degree; one year of experience with the target population served; experience as a certified peer specialist according to Minnesota Statutes, section 256B.0615; or meets the requirements for unlicensed personnel under Minnesota Statutes, sections 144A.43 to 144A.483.
  • Must possess a vehicle and valid driver’s license and a willingness to travel as needed to organization locations throughout SE MN.
  • Must hold a current certificate in CPR/AED/First Aid or be willing to obtain.

Responsibilities

  • Assist clients in feeling welcome and safe in the facility
  • Assist in maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the building and grounds
  • Assist clients with medication assistance
  • Assist clients with independent living skills
  • Aid clients when they are in a crisis situation
  • Assist client with light housekeeping skills
  • Provide transportation to clients when assigned/or needed
  • Attend weekly staff meetings, trainings, and scheduled in-services
  • Attend required clinical supervision meetings as scheduled
  • Complete all documentation and billing work as required
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director or Program Manager.
