SLCS is currently seeking a full-time 6-month contract for a Housing Stability Worker for Project Home, a Housing First program. The Housing Stability position supports participants in the community who are experiencing homelessness or housing instability to assist in securing and maintaining housing. This position supports all age demographics, with a focus on coaching and mentoring individuals in housing readiness, stability, safety and security and connection to resources to promote independence. The Housing Stability Worker will be culturally responsive and will utilize a strength based, trauma informed and restorative model of care, focusing on supporting participants where they are at in their service of care. Successful candidates should be prepared to work with individuals at different stages in life and may have to work with program participants struggling with mental health, physical health, substance use and various other challenges. Working within a multifaceted team, you will provide case management to up to 20 participants assisting in developing and establishing housing and personal goals. You will be responsible for advocating on behalf of participants and liaising with other services (i.e. emergency shelters, community organizations, health care services, income supports, as well as the legal system) to coordinate care for individuals. The role requires strong administration, organizational and time management skills. The candidate will be able to efficiently and objectively write case notes, have familiarity with completing assessments, complete unit inspections and gather statistical information for reporting. Comfort in attending individual units, encampments and shelters is necessary as supporting individuals where they are at is at the core of the program. Strong written, verbal and social skills is essential in interacting with many personalities we support on a daily basis. As a member of the Project Home team, you will contribute to the ongoing development of the program, and to the broader citywide homeless services system. As an SLCS employee, you will be responsible for the safety and security of program participants, co-workers and community during your employment. You will work collaboratively with other team members and community partners to complete administrative functions for the program.
