About The Position

As a Housing Program Supervisor, you’ll lead a team, oversee vital housing and code enforcement programs through planning effective field operations and navigate complex issues. This is an opportunity to serve your community and make an impact. The current vacancy is for a Night Team Supervisor in the City Attorney’s Office with work hours of 1:30 P.M. to 12:00 A.M. This classification also exists in the Planning & Development Department. Immediate and future vacancies will be filled from this eligible list for a period of three (3) months from the date the eligible list is created, with the option of extending that period at the City's discretion. If the examination process is suspended for this recruitment, the eligible list may be limited to three (3) months.

Requirements

  • Option 1: A bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, urban planning, criminology, public administration, business administration or related field AND A minimum of three (3) years of experience in: code enforcement, rental housing/property management, or construction trades experience, which included a minimum of one (1) year of progressively responsible lead experience assigning, reviewing and coordinating work of subordinate staff.
  • Option 2: Two (2) years of experience as a Senior Community Revitalization Specialist with the City of Fresno.
  • Possession of a valid Class C California Driver's License is required at time of appointment and must maintain license for the entire term of employment in this class.
  • Candidates considered for hire must provide proof of a valid driver's license and current copy of their driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification as a California (CACEO) Code Enforcement Officer is desired.
  • Specific areas of expertise may be required: Code Enforcement, Housing Rehabilitation, Rental Housing, Community Revitalization, Homeless Services.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and guide staff in housing and code enforcement programs.
  • Coordinate and address violations related to vacant and blighted properties, zoning and conditional use permits, public nuisances, sidewalk and mobile vending, and special events.
  • Enforce applicable codes and ordinances to improve neighborhood conditions.
  • Develop and implement program goals, policies, and priorities.
  • Conduct and support inspections, fieldwork, and community engagement.
  • Interpret and apply municipal codes and enforcement procedures.
  • Collaborate with departments, agencies, and community partners.
  • Prepare reports, documentation, and evidence for hearings and court.
  • Represent the City as an expert witness and support division administration.
  • May be assigned to specific program areas or special enforcement initiatives.
  • Performs related duties as required.
