About The Position

Responsible for the leadership of BBAHC housing department, including housing assignments, maintenance, cleanliness, and furnishings in accordance with BBAHC Housing Policy and applicable codes, standards, and laws. Maintains records and files, plans renovations, equipment and furniture replacement, manages housing personnel and manages the Housing Committee.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of two years experience in office management and/or building maintenance.
  • Ability to demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Customer Service oriented focus.
  • Must possess basic building maintenance skills of: carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical repair, refinishing furniture, carpeting and sheet vinyl replacement.
  • Must possess knowledge of appropriate cleaning processes and be able to appropriately address irritating odors, such as those left by pets.
  • Demonstrate ability to calculate bill of materials and obtain quotes for building maintenance and repair activities.
  • Must be able to work independently without direct supervision.
  • Valid Driver’s license required.

Nice To Haves

  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Prefer Associate’s Degree in business administration, finance, or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, prioritizes, and coordinates Housing department activities. Assigns work of Housing Laborers and Housing Maintenance employees.
  • Tracks and manages housing assignments and occupancies.
  • Coordinates with IHS to update Quarters Management and Information System (QMIS); along with providing information for determination of rental rates.
  • Develops departmental budget submissions to align with the BBAHC strategy plan.
  • Maintains full compliance with the laws, regulations, grant terms, and BBAHC policies pertinent to the division/department. Actively avoids fraud, waste, and abuse. Seeks methods and activities to enhance BBAHC revenues.
  • Provides technical advice to employees and obtains resources necessary to maintain or improve housing.
  • Develops scope of work for contracting large scale building improvements in conjunction with the Projects Department Team. Coordinates with contractors and consultants as necessary for maintaining quality, clean, housing units.
  • Supervises, trains, and assists when needed with repairs and installations of: carpet, sheet vinyl, drywall, bathroom fixtures, cabinets, and appliances.
  • Interprets and applies the rules and regulations concerning housing based on BBAHC Housing Policy and utilizing Indian Health Service Quarters Management Handbook for reference.
  • Maintains records of and prepares reports as needed on staff work schedules, work orders, preventative maintenance, equipment utilization, electricity consumption, and maintenance and material costs.
