About The Position
Under the supervision of the Environmental Services Supervisor, the Houseworker cleans offices and/or department areas, including trash removal, high dusting, damp wiping, spot cleaning, mopping, vacuuming, and bathroom cleaning. The position also assists with assigned project work. The role is part of UMass Memorial Health, where employees contribute to patient care, academic excellence, research, and the community.
Requirements
- Ability to work independently with a minimum of direct supervision.
- Previous environmental services experience is preferred; the posting lists this under Required experience/skills, while also describing it as preferred.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities
- Clean assigned rooms and areas to ensure a clean, safe, and attractive environment.
- Clean and burnish floors to maintain an attractive appearance.
- Assist with project work as assigned.
- Complete assigned duties efficiently and effectively within the scheduled work time.
- Maintain a positive service attitude and respond to requests promptly and professionally.
- Interact cooperatively and work harmoniously with employees and staff.
- Know and safely use equipment and chemicals, following established procedures.
- Maintain a professional image through grooming, appearance, attitude, and conduct.
- Report prepared to begin work at scheduled start times and follow required timekeeping procedures.
