About The Position

Under direction of the Lead Houseperson and Section Supervisors, this role cleans assigned guest and employee areas of the hotel, as well as assisting Guest Room Attendants. Responsibilities include dusting, vacuuming, and cleaning various hotel areas such as hallways, lobby, service and guest elevator tracks, vending areas, storage and supply areas, emergency stairwells, and exit areas. The Houseperson will also maintain ash urns in guest elevator lobbies, assist with minor maintenance like changing light bulbs and unplugging toilets, and report more serious problems to supervisors. Promptly responding to guest requests and delivering convenience items, collecting soiled linen and trash from carts, and stocking/maintaining linen and supply rooms are key duties. The role involves assisting Guest Room Attendants, delivering supplies, cleaning guest room glasses, and performing heavy-duty maintenance and cleaning as assigned. Additionally, the Houseperson will check lamps and fixtures for burned-out bulbs, understand and follow company procedures, complete training, attend departmental meetings, and exemplify core values, DEI culture, and perform other job-related duties.

Requirements

  • Ability to understand and comply with all company and departmental rules and regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff and guests.
  • Ability to read and communicate verbally in English and Spanish.
  • Must be self-motivated and detail oriented.
  • Possess initiative and high energy level.
  • Knowledge of chemical use, OSHA regulations, and biohazard clean-up procedures.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to provide internal/ external guests with service excellence.
  • Excellent communication skills and observation skills.
  • Easygoing demeanor to ensure a fun and safe environment for guests.
  • Above average speech – both speaking and reading/writing English.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Work requires schedule flexibility which may include days off, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Dust, vacuum, and clean assigned guest and employee areas of the hotel, including hallways, lobby, service and guest elevator tracks, vending areas, storage and supply areas, emergency stairwells, and exit areas.
  • Maintain ash urns in guest elevator lobbies throughout the shift.
  • Assist in minor maintenance, such as changing light bulbs and unplugging toilets.
  • Report more serious problems to the Floor Supervisor/Housekeeping Office.
  • Respond promptly to guest requests and deliver guest convenience items.
  • Collect soiled linen and trash from Guest Room Attendant (GRA) carts.
  • Physically stock and maintain linen and supply rooms.
  • Assist GRAs as assigned and deliver supplies to GRA carts, including full cleaning bottles.
  • Clean guest room glasses daily.
  • Perform heavy duty maintenance and cleaning as assigned.
  • Remove room service dishes from guest room hallways for prompt pick-up.
  • Check all lamps and fixtures in assigned area for burned out bulbs.
  • Understand and follow the Trailblazer Guide, housekeeping manual and emergency/evacuation procedures.
  • Complete training of bloodborne pathogen procedures.
  • Attend regular departmental meetings as scheduled.
  • Exemplify core values, family style service, mission and vision, and DEI culture.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
