About The Position
NYU Langone Hospital—Brooklyn is hiring a Housekeeping Worker to maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe environment for patients, visitors, and coworkers. The role involves general cleaning in patient rooms, offices, hallways, and other assigned areas, as well as discharge and isolation cleaning and floor care. The worker transports solid waste and certain hazardous or universal wastes to designated locations, maintains housekeeping carts and labeled chemical bottles, and reports potential problems or unsafe conditions. Duties are performed in a safe, patient-focused manner, often without direct supervision, with completed assignments reported to the department. The position is based at NYU Langone Hospital—Brooklyn in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. A high school diploma or GED is preferred, and candidates must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization. The listed salary is $24.16 per hour; actual salary may depend on experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.

Responsibilities
- Perform housekeeping duties according to procedure.
- Perform discharge cleaning according to procedure.
- Perform isolation cleaning according to procedure.
- Burnish and scrub floors as directed.
- Perform job duties without direct supervision.
- Inform the manager of potential problems or unsafe conditions.
- Perform daily duties safely while keeping patient needs first.
- Notify the department upon completion of assignments.
- Contribute to a positive team effort.
- Clean hospital areas using materials that may be corrosive, flammable, or toxic in concentrated form.
- Transport solid waste to designated locations.
- Transport certain hazardous or universal wastes from designated hospital locations to the main hospital accumulation area.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Keep the housekeeping cart clean and chemical bottles labeled.
