About The Position

NYU Langone Hospital—Brooklyn is seeking a Housekeeping Worker to maintain a clean, sanitary environment for patients, visitors, and co-workers. The role involves general cleaning in patient rooms, offices, hallways, and other assigned areas, as well as discharge and isolation cleaning and floor care. The worker transports solid waste and certain hazardous or universal waste to designated locations, maintains a safe work environment, and keeps housekeeping carts clean and chemical bottles labeled. The position requires effective communication with all levels of the organization and the ability to perform duties safely, independently, and as part of a team.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

• Perform housekeeping duties according to procedure.
• Perform discharge cleaning according to procedure.
• Perform isolation cleaning according to procedure.
• Burnish and scrub floors as directed.
• Perform job duties without direct supervision.
• Inform the manager of potential problems or unsafe conditions.
• Perform daily duties safely while keeping patient needs first.
• Notify the department upon completion of assignments.
• Contribute positively to team effort.
• Clean the hospital using materials that may be corrosive, flammable, or toxic in concentrated form.
• Transport solid waste to designated locations.
• Transport certain hazardous or universal waste from designated hospital locations to the main hospital accumulation area.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Keep the housekeeping cart clean and chemical bottles labeled.
