About The Position

NYU Langone Hospital—Brooklyn is hiring a Housekeeping Worker to maintain a clean and sanitary environment for patients, visitors, and coworkers. The role involves general cleaning in patient rooms, offices, hallways, and other assigned areas, including discharge and isolation cleaning, floor care, and transporting designated waste. The worker is expected to maintain a safe work environment, keep the housekeeping cart clean and chemical bottles labeled, and carry out assignments safely and with patients’ needs first.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

• Perform housekeeping duties according to procedure.
• Perform discharge cleaning according to procedure.
• Perform isolation cleaning according to procedure.
• Burnish and scrub floors as directed.
• Perform job duties without direct supervision.
• Inform the manager of potential problems or unsafe conditions.
• Perform daily duties safely while keeping patient needs first.
• Notify the department upon completion of assignments.
• Display a positive team effort.
• Clean hospital areas using materials that may be corrosive, flammable, or toxic in concentrated form.
• Transport solid waste to designated locations and certain hazardous or universal waste to the main hospital accumulation area.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Keep the housekeeping cart clean and chemical bottles labeled.
