About The Position

The YMCA of Metropolitan Washington is seeking a dedicated, detail-oriented Housekeeping Supervisor for YMCA Anthony Bowen. The role combines hands-on housekeeping with supervising and managing housekeeping staff and ensuring cleanliness and hygiene standards throughout the branch. The supervisor works directly with the Director of Properties and Facilities.

Requirements

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Previous housekeeping or related-field experience, including a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
• Knowledge of cleaning techniques, products, and equipment, including proper handling and storage.
• Ability to lead and motivate a team and foster a positive, collaborative work environment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to high cleanliness and hygiene standards.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures related to housekeeping activities.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage housekeeping staff, providing guidance, support, and training as needed.
• Create and implement work schedules to ensure adequate coverage and efficient use of resources.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the lobby, hallways, stairwells, locker rooms, gymnasiums, and other designated areas.
• Inspect facilities regularly to ensure cleaning tasks are completed to a high standard and on time.
• Assist with recruiting, selecting, and onboarding new housekeeping staff.
• Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies, equipment, and materials, ensuring necessary items are available.
