About The Position

This is supervisory work, assisting in the direction of the housekeeping program at a State Hospital. Positions supervise housekeeping functions within a major section of the housekeeping program, typically supervising at least Fifteen Housekeepers. Broughton Hospital is currently accepting applications for a Housekeeping Supervisor II – to assist in managing the day-to-day operations of the EVS department in a State Psychiatric Hospital. The primary purpose of this position is to provide supervision of assigned Housekeepers. This position is needed to ensure that the quality and quantity of work performed adheres to established standards and that work assignments are adjusted to meet requirements for the provision of services in the designated area(s).

Requirements

  • High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and three years of experience in the area assigned, including one year of supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be able to follow both written and oral instructions
  • Must be physically able to lift, stoop, bend and move from side to side
  • Must possess thorough knowledge of cleaning procedures, products and equipment
  • Previous housekeeping experience, including supervisory experience
  • Selected applicants must be able to pass a State Bureau of Investigation Criminal History Check, and complete and pass BLS/CPR training and Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training during orientation.

Responsibilities

  • Checks presence/absence of group members as they report to duty.
  • Makes job assignments to provide adequate coverage for provision of services.
  • Distribute keys for each area covered.
  • Checks employees, services provided and assigned work area to assure quality of work, timeliness of services, adequacy of supplies and equipment, and safety hazards or faulty equipment.
  • Confers with other Hospital staff to assess need to alter work schedule as may be determined by special events or activities in the assigned area.
  • Recommends probationary employees for permanent status as appropriate.
  • Make note of needed repairs/deficiencies needed and report them to the Environmental Services Office.
  • Arrange for additional assistance as necessary to provide services.
  • Attends supervisor’s meeting.
  • Holds group meetings.
  • Conducts monthly quality checks.
  • Makes monthly quality assessment of each group member.
  • Develops plan of action to correct assigned employees work performance and personal conduct deficiencies.
  • Authorizes leave requests by assigned Housekeepers
  • Initiates disciplinary action as necessary for work performance and conduct deficiencies.
  • Recommends Family Medical Leave (FMLA) to Environmental Services Director when assigned employees meet criteria for such.
  • Maintains supplies in assigned area(s) through use of the NC Accounting System (NCAS).
  • Manages requests for services via the Event Tracking Program.
  • Submits repair requests through the Facility Dude web link.
  • Checks e-mail and other correspondence on a routine basis.
  • Submit reports and completes paperwork within timeframes as specified.
  • Inventories equipment, furniture, and supplies.
  • Conducts work appraisals and documents findings on appropriate forms (Performance Management System (PMS).
  • Reviews and updates of job descriptions.
  • Submits monthly quality and quantitative reports.
