About The Position

The Housekeeping Manager is responsible for overseeing the Housekeeping department to ensure the immaculate appearance of all furniture, fixtures, and equipment. This role involves managing staff, establishing cleaning programs, monitoring expenses, and ensuring the effective operation of the laundry department. The Housekeeping Manager will also handle guest requests and complaints with professionalism and ensure departmental financial goals are met.

Requirements

  • Three to five years of experience as a Housekeeping Manager in a luxury hotel/resort preferred.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Excellent organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Interview, train, and schedule Housekeeping staff.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and coaching & counseling sessions when needed.
  • Ensure seamless communication and follow up on any issues, guest requests, or special requirements.
  • Establish detailed cleaning and preventative maintenance programs to ensure the immaculate appearance of all furniture, fixtures, and equipment.
  • Set and maintain high standards of cleanliness.
  • Monitor staff’s activities to ensure that standards are being met, staff is being supported, and guest needs and requests are being fulfilled.
  • Inspect all areas of responsibility daily.
  • Work directly with contractors to ensure quality and timeliness of work.
  • Resolve customer complaints, handling all guest interactions with the highest level of hospitality and professionalism and accommodating special requests whenever possible.
  • Respond to all guest requests in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Assure the financial goals of the department are being met.
  • Monitor and control departmental expenses, including labor, uniforms, linens, guest supplies, cleaning supplies, and contract services.
  • Participate in periodic linen, uniform, and supplies inventories.
  • Ensure the proper maintenance of all equipment.
  • Prepare the Housekeeping department’s annual budget for labor and operating expense and propose items to be included in the annual Capital Plan.
  • Ensure the effective operation of the laundry department.
