About The Position

The Housekeeping Manager is responsible for the management of the shift supervision and staffing assignments and tasks to ensure work is performed effectively and efficiently. This role involves planning and scheduling staff assignments and cleaning services, reassigning staff to ensure work is accomplished according to schedule and that staff is fully utilized. The manager will also reassign personnel to handle emergency cleaning, maintenance, and projects as needed. This position requires informing and holding staff accountable for custodial and related policy and procedure, directives, and memorandums, including performance, overtime utilization, and time and attendance. The manager supervises the custodial service inventory system, including the requisitioning and distribution of proper cleaning equipment and supplies. They provide oral and written instructions to staff for requested special cleaning services, including the development of training programs to comply with sustainability directives. The role involves inspecting and auditing buildings and assigned areas for compliance with cleaning guidelines, investigating complaints of unsatisfactory cleaning performance, and taking corrective action. Additionally, the manager supervises the arrangement of premises for public meetings and special events by directing the movement and placement of seating and other equipment. They perform full supervisory duties such as resolving personnel problems, evaluating work performance, taking appropriate disciplinary action, maintaining time cards, and recommending retention or termination of employees. The manager oversees the supervision of new employees to ensure proper probationary competencies are met. This role utilizes software programs to assign and maintain the facility in a clean, sanitary, and safe condition, and to enhance patient flow monitoring and reduce response, clean, and turnaround time in patient rooms.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree and at least 3 years of Custodial Services/Housekeeping management experience in a health care setting, OR at least 4 years of Custodial Services/Housekeeping management experience in a health care setting in lieu of an Associate's degree.
  • Knowledge of operational software/quality programs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Successfully complete pre-employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance.
  • Complete electronic reference check with a minimum of three (3) professional references.
  • Successfully complete a 4 panel drug screen.
  • Meet Regulatory Requirements for pre-employment screenings.
  • Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Experience in Custodial Service Operational Software Programs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Five (5) or more years of supervisory/management experience.
