About The Position

Serves as a working leader at a Navy Gateway Inn and Suites and/or Navy Lodge property, responsible for leading and inspecting the work of team members in performing housekeeping duties, ensuring program standards are met. Regularly performs the full range and scope of housekeeping services, similar to a Housekeeping Attendant, including cleaning guest rooms, public spaces, storage areas, laundry rooms, and exterior spaces. This involves tasks such as vacuuming, mopping, dusting, scrubbing, washing, moving items, polishing, cleaning, and removing debris/trash, as well as transporting clean and dirty linen and towels. The role utilizes hand and powered cleaning equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and pass on instructions from supervisors to Housekeeping Attendants.
  • Assist in training new associates and answer questions regarding policies and procedures.
  • Ensure work schedules are adhered to and keep supervisors informed of work status and problem areas.
  • Train and demonstrate proper work methods and procedures.
  • Ensure efficient and economical cleaning methods are implemented.
  • Ensure required cleaning materials and linen are available.
  • Work alongside and perform tasks at the same level as the associates being led.
  • Maintain records of housekeeping work performed by room, including occupant numbers and arrival/departure dates.
  • Maintain continuity in the absence of the immediate supervisor.
  • Greet and welcome guests, maintaining outstanding guest relations.
  • Conduct daily inspections of rooms, housekeeping carts, common areas, and laundry facilities, maintaining written documentation.
  • Ensure guest privacy and security at all times.
  • Maintain security of all items in storerooms and assigned storage areas.
  • Determine and place orders for cleaning supplies, in-room amenities, and other necessary materials or equipment.
  • Ensure equipment is properly maintained, stored, and accounted for.
  • Issue amenities, supplies, and linen to Housekeeping Attendants and perform monthly/quarterly inventory.
  • Handle guest and staff suggestions and complaints, resolving problems tactfully and referring difficult situations to the supervisor.
  • Perform regular housekeeping duties including cleaning guest rooms, public spaces, storage areas, laundry rooms, and exterior spaces.
  • Use hand and powered cleaning equipment.
  • May be responsible for the setup, breakdown, and cleanup of the complimentary self-service breakfast bar.
  • Assist with preparing, heating, displaying, and replenishing breakfast items.
  • Ensure the breakfast area is returned to its original state and free of leftover food.
  • Obtain proper food handling certifications as applicable.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Apply knowledge of blood-borne pathogens safety measures.
  • Follow all NEXCOM Hospitality Group (NHG) protocols.
  • Perform and inspect laundry operations.
  • Possess a valid state driver's license to travel to other lodging facilities as required.
  • May be required to maintain operations during inclement weather and emergencies.
  • May be required to obtain NHG housekeeping certification within 6 months of employment.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
