About The Position

The Housekeeping/Environmental Services Attendant cleans assigned hospital areas, including patient rooms, outpatient areas, and sterile processing, following departmental procedures and using appropriate germicidal cleaning solutions. The role includes cleaning surfaces and equipment, making patient beds, sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming. The attendant completes scheduled work during the shift, follows up on unfinished work from previous shifts, and reports incomplete assignments to support continuity. Duties also include collecting waste and soiled linen, sanitizing waste cans, climbing ladders for cleaning and hanging cubicles or drapes, and arranging furniture for meetings and community events.

Requirements

Ability to lift 50 pounds and be mobile.
Ability to read and understand simple verbal and written instructions.
Ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations.
Ability to comply with OSHA regulations, CDC standard and transmission-based precaution recommendations, and applicable S.D.S. forms, and to use proper personal protective equipment.
Successful completion of a 90-day probationary period.

Responsibilities

Clean furniture, tile, fixtures, equipment, walls, doors, door frames, ceilings, televisions, and windows using germicidal cleaning solutions.
Strip and make patient beds, sweep and mop hard floors, and vacuum carpet.
Clean outpatient and sterile processing areas with proper cleaning solutions and according to departmental procedures.
Complete scheduled procedures during the shift while maintaining work quality; complete work left from previous shifts and report incomplete assignments.
Collect hospital waste and soiled linen, sanitize waste cans, and collect hazardous waste according to Infection Control Committee requirements.
Climb ladders to hang cubicles and window drapes or reach high areas for cleaning.
Arrange furniture for meetings, workshops, and community affairs.
