About The Position

The Housekeeping Aide performs cleaning and housekeeping duties throughout Harrington Park Health & Rehab, including patient rooms, bathrooms, dining areas, floors, carpets, glass surfaces, and outdoor walkways. The role follows center cleaning schedules and procedures, infection-control standards, and chemical-safety precautions. The aide also maintains supplies and housekeeping equipment, respects patient rights and belongings, and communicates courteously with patients, families, visitors, and coworkers. This is a full-time day position with a starting pay of $14.20 per hour and weekly pay.

Requirements

A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
Understanding of basic cleaning principles and safety related to handling chemicals.
Ability to communicate well with associates, patients, family members, and visitors, offering a warm, friendly, helpful, and professional demeanor.
Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; write routine reports and correspondence; and speak effectively before groups.
Ability to perform basic arithmetic using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to apply common-sense understanding to written, oral, or diagrammed instructions and address problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word.
Ability to meet the described physical demands, with reasonable accommodations as applicable.

Responsibilities

Sweep, damp mop, and wet mop tile floors; perform spray buffing, stripping, or waxing when needed and follow procedures for wet-floor signs.
Report carpeted areas requiring cleaning or spot removal to the supervisor and vacuum carpeted rooms as applicable.
Dust and damp-clean surfaces in patient rooms, including furniture, bed frames, and windowsills, according to center procedures.
Empty trash cans, clean their interiors and exteriors, and replace liners.
Clean bathroom sinks, fixtures, and toilets, as well as glass surfaces such as mirrors, pictures, and windows.
Clean behind and underneath furnishings; move furniture according to center procedures and turn bed mattresses after cleaning.
Clean the dining area after breakfast and lunch, including wiping tables, sweeping, and mopping.
Change soiled privacy curtains and outside-window draperies as needed; remove and rehang outside-window curtains and draperies using a ladder.
Sweep outside porches and walkways and pick up improperly discarded trash.
Follow cleaning schedules established by the supervisor and follow infection-control standards, including isolation techniques when needed.
Respect patient rights and treat patients and their belongings with dignity while cleaning rooms.
Safeguard chemicals, follow their MSDS precautions, and understand safe chemical handling.
Assist with proper care and use of housekeeping equipment, supplies, and storage areas; clean and store equipment at the end of each shift and inspect it before use.
Report equipment repairs needed throughout the center to the Maintenance Department.
Maintain adequate bathroom supplies, including soap, lotion, paper towels, and toilet tissue.
Prevent or remove wax and dirt buildup in corners, around baseboards, and in doorways.
Promote the System's image and reputation through servant leadership and direct, open communication.
Contribute to committees, workgroups, project management, and other collaborative System efforts.
Perform other duties as necessary to support the success of the System.
