About The Position

Heritage Oaks is hiring a full-time Housekeeping Aide for the day shift. The role performs cleaning and upkeep throughout the center, including patient rooms, bathrooms, dining areas, floors, carpets, furnishings, and outdoor walkways. The aide follows center procedures and infection-control standards, respects patient rights and belongings, handles chemicals safely, and maintains housekeeping equipment and supplies. The position also involves communicating courteously with patients, family members, visitors, and associates, and contributing to collaborative System efforts as needed.

Requirements

Understand basic cleaning principles and safety related to handling chemicals.
Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and speak effectively before groups of customers or associates.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to apply common-sense understanding to written, oral, or diagrammed instructions and address problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word.
A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

Responsibilities

Sweep, damp mop, and wet mop tile floors; occasionally spray buff, strip, or wax floors in accordance with center procedures and use wet-floor signs.
Report carpet areas needing cleaning or spot removal and vacuum carpeted rooms as applicable.
Dust and damp-clean surfaces in patient rooms, including furniture, bed frames, and windowsills, following center procedures.
Empty trash cans, clean their interiors and exteriors, and replace liners.
Clean bathroom sinks, fixtures, and toilets; clean glass surfaces such as mirrors, pictures, and windows.
Clean behind and underneath furnishings, moving furniture according to center procedures, and turn bed mattresses after cleaning.
Clean dining areas after breakfast and lunch by wiping tables, sweeping, and mopping.
Change soiled privacy curtains and outside-window draperies as needed; remove and rehang outside-window curtains and draperies using a ladder.
Sweep outside porches and walkways and pick up improperly disposed trash.
Follow cleaning schedules set by the supervisor and follow infection-control standards, including using isolation techniques such as gowns, gloves, and special cleaning when needed.
Respect patient rights and treat patients and their belongings with dignity and respect while cleaning patient rooms.
Safeguard chemicals by keeping them locked or in sight and follow precautions stated on their MSDS.
Assist with proper care and use of housekeeping equipment, supplies, and storage areas; clean and store equipment at the end of each shift according to procedures.
Inspect equipment before use for safe operation and report needed repairs to the Maintenance Department.
Maintain adequate bathroom supplies, including soap, lotion, paper towels, and toilet tissue.
Prevent or remove wax and dirt buildup in corners, around baseboards, and in doorways.
Promote the System’s image and reputation through servant leadership and direct, open communication.
Contribute to committees, workgroups, project management, and other collaborative System efforts.
Perform other duties as necessary to ensure the success of the System.
Communicate with associates, patients, family members, and visitors in a warm, friendly, approachable, helpful, and professional manner; respond to concerns and answer questions when appropriate.
