About The Position

This role is responsible for maintaining positive guest relations, resolving guest complaints, and ensuring guest satisfaction. The Housekeeping-Aid will maintain knowledge of hotel features, services, hours of operation, room rates, special packages, promotions, daily house count, and scheduled group activities. They will also maintain and use equipment correctly, use chemicals according to regulations, and complete daily reports. Responsibilities include stocking the linen room, emptying linen from carts, cleaning common areas like elevator tracks and trash cans, maintaining pool areas, cleaning ice and soda machines, dusting light fixtures, cleaning rugs and carpets, washing walls and ceilings, moving furniture, turning mattresses, removing dirty linen, picking up trash, delivering items to guest rooms, and handling lost and found items. The role also involves assisting co-workers and guests, notifying supervisors of guest feedback, and being knowledgeable about local attractions. Additionally, the Housekeeping-Aid will assist in emergencies to protect guests and the property, and must be familiar with and abide by all departmental, management, hotel, and brand policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Exert physical effort in lifting/transporting at least 25 pounds.
  • Push/pull carts and other equipment up to 100 pounds.
  • Endure various physical movements throughout the work areas.
  • Work environment includes front office, and all areas of the hotel.
  • The job involves working under variable temperature conditions and noise levels, in indoor and outdoor settings.
  • Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for lengthy periods of time.
  • Work environment includes Guest Rooms, Guest and Service Corridors, Housekeeping Office.

Nice To Haves

  • No houseperson is allowed in any guestroom at any time unless requested by the supervisor.
  • All housepersons are to always be in plain view.
  • Associates have basic knowledge of the local downtown area to provide guests with information and recommendations during their stay on property.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain positive guest relations and guest confidentiality.
  • Resolve guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction and communicating effectively with guests and team members.
  • Maintain knowledge of all hotel features/services, hours of operation, room rates, special packages and promotions, daily house count and expected arrivals/departures and scheduled daily group activities.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment.
  • Use equipment only as intended.
  • Use all chemicals in accordance with OSHA regulations and hotel requirements.
  • Complete daily report as instructed by supervisor.
  • Stock linen room with supplies.
  • Empty linen from housekeeping carts.
  • Sweep and mop areas in front of elevators; clean all trash cans, and clean elevator track.
  • Maintain pool areas.
  • Clean pool windows and bathroom daily.
  • Clean ice and soda machines on all floors.
  • Dust light fixtures in hallways.
  • Cleans rugs, carpets and upholstered furniture using a vacuum cleaner, broom and carpet shampoo machine.
  • Wash walls and ceiling, moves furniture’s and turn mattress.
  • Remove all the dirty linen from laundry chutes and dirty linen from hallways.
  • Pick up trash from all floors after the room attendants finish for the day.
  • Deliver towels, cribs, cots and other items to the guest rooms upon request.
  • Turn in lost and found items immediately to the supervisor.
  • Aid co-workers and guests as needed.
  • Notify the supervisor of any guests’ complaints or comments.
  • Be familiar with all local attractions/activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately.
  • Assists in handling emergencies to protect our guests and associates and preserve the building and its systems during emergencies.
  • Responsible for knowing and abiding by all departments, Commonwealth Lodging Management and hotel policies and procedures. As well as brand standards, policies and procedures.
