About The Position

The Housekeeper provides campus cleaning and minor maintenance services to meet the needs of residents and employees and help keep facilities in good condition. The position performs scheduled cleaning inside and outside campus areas according to department standards and infection-control guidelines, maintains floors, responds to spills, completes project and deep cleaning, and handles trash and recycling. The Housekeeper also supports resident moves and campus linen and supply programs, maintains cleaning equipment, reports repair needs, and assists with snow and ice salting as needed.

Requirements

• Some high school education.
• Housekeeping and/or general maintenance experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing, with residents and staff.
• Dependability, common sense, and ability to organize a daily cleaning schedule and complete assigned work.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work within standard policies and procedures with limited direct supervision.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled cleaning in assigned areas according to departmental standards and infection-control guidelines.
• Complete minor maintenance tasks, such as changing light bulbs and batteries and plunging toilets.
• Clean assigned areas inside and outside the campus.
• Maintain floors by sweeping, dry and wet mopping, stripping, scrubbing, waxing, vacuuming, extraction, hosting, and buffing as scheduled or assigned.
• Assist with cleaning emergency spills that are observed or reported.
• Perform project cleaning, including walls, ceilings, vents, light fixtures, and windows.
• Remove trash and recyclables from collection points, public areas, and outside entrance areas; transport them to designated pickup areas and replace liners as needed.
• Deep clean rooms or units after transfers or discharges according to department standards.
• Move furniture and assist with resident moves during transfers or discharges.
• Participate in the campus linen program, including distributing, collecting, counting, preparing linen for pickup, and handling incoming linen.
• Make beds in guest rooms or residences as needed.
• Maintain cleaning equipment and repair it or report the need for repairs as appropriate.
• Observe and report repair needs involving facilities, furniture, and fixtures.
• Assist with receiving campus supplies and deliveries and putting supplies away as needed.
• Participate in campus snow and ice salting as needed.
