About The Position

The Housekeeper provides campus cleaning and minor maintenance services to meet the needs of residents and employees and help keep facilities in good condition. The role follows assigned schedules, departmental standards, and infection-control guidelines, and includes indoor and outdoor cleaning, floor care, emergency spill response, project and deep cleaning, waste and linen handling, room preparation, and assistance with resident moves. The Housekeeper also maintains cleaning equipment, reports repair needs, helps receive and put away supplies, and participates in snow and ice salting as needed.

Requirements

Some high school education.
Housekeeping and/or general maintenance experience.
Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written English with residents and staff.
Dependability, common sense, and ability to organize a daily cleaning schedule and complete assigned work.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work within standard policies and procedures with limited direct supervision.

Responsibilities

Clean assigned areas according to established schedules, departmental standards, and infection-control guidelines.
Complete minor maintenance tasks, such as changing light bulbs, plunging toilets, and replacing batteries.
Perform scheduled cleaning tasks in assigned indoor and outdoor areas.
Maintain floors by sweeping, dry and wet mopping, stripping, scrubbing, waxing, vacuuming, extracting, hosting, and buffing as assigned.
Clean emergency spills that are observed or reported.
Perform project cleaning, including walls, ceilings, vents, light fixtures, and windows.
Remove trash and recyclables from collection points, public areas, and outside entrances; transport them to pick-up areas and replace liners as needed.
Deep clean rooms and units after transfers or discharges.
Move furniture and assist with resident moves during transfers or discharges.
Participate in the campus linen program by distributing, collecting, counting, and preparing linen for pick-up, and handling incoming linen.
Make beds in guest rooms or residences as needed.
Maintain cleaning equipment and repair it or report repair needs as appropriate.
Observe and report repair needs involving facilities, furniture, and fixtures.
Help receive campus supplies and deliveries and put them away as needed.
Participate in campus snow and ice salting as needed.
