About The Position

The Housekeeper maintains acceptable daily sanitation standards in assigned areas to provide a clean and safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors at Southern Virginia Mental Health Institute, a 72-bed Joint Commission-accredited state mental health facility in Danville, Virginia. The position involves housekeeping tasks such as cleaning, vacuuming, floor buffing, dusting, emptying trash cans, sweeping, and supplying bathrooms.

The role works in a fast-paced behavioral health environment and includes cleaning bathrooms, patient rooms, nursing areas, and other spaces. The successful candidate learns and follows directions and takes initiative to complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision after training.

Requirements

• Must be able to read and follow written instructions.
• Must hold current CHEST certification or be able to become CHEST certified within one year of employment.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced behavioral health environment.
• Ability to follow directions.
• Initiative to complete assigned tasks with minimum supervision after receiving training.

Nice To Haves

• Experience as a housekeeper in a psychiatric healthcare facility, acute care, long-term care, or correctional setting.
• Veteran or National Service experience.
• CHEST certification, or the ability to become CHEST certified within six months of employment.

Responsibilities
