About The Position

The Housekeeper works in a long-term care facility to maintain a safe, orderly, clean environment that is free of obstacles and odors. The role maintains public and common areas, resident rooms and bathrooms, and housekeeping supplies, equipment, carts, and storage areas. The position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Ability to read and understand procedure and instruction manuals and directions.
Basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division skills.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with concrete variables in situations with limited standardization.
Ability to interpret instructions provided in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Fluent in written and spoken English.
Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Ability to sit, kneel, stand, walk, talk, read, or hear regularly.
Excellent customer skills and a positive attitude.
Excellent time-management skills.
Ability to work independently or with a team.

Responsibilities

Maintain public and common areas throughout the day, including the lobby, restrooms, drinking fountains, and floors.
Maintain the cleanliness of resident rooms and bathrooms.
Keep handrails clean and free of debris.
Clean dust, dirt, or food from walls, mirrors, windows, light fixtures, towel bars, and towel dispensers.
Empty trash cans and replace liners.
Sweep and mop floors.
Use appropriate safety measures while cleaning, including caution signage and keeping supplies and chemicals out of residents’ reach.
Use supplies and equipment safely by following user manual instructions.
Keep housekeeping carts, equipment, and storage areas safe, sanitary, clean, and orderly.
Immediately notify the Director of Housekeeping, Administrator, or Director of Nursing about resident safety issues or concerns.
Notify the Director of Housekeeping when supplies need replenishing.
